초록
The purpose of this study is to examine the concept of cultural literacy in Korean language education through critical research of the complexity of reconceptualization. To determine the meaning of cultural literacy in Korean language education, this study reviewed the context of concept introduction, including the original concept under paying attention to ‘shared knowledge’ as core-meaning factor of ‘cultural literacy’.
 As a result of the analysis, we found cultural literacy in Korean education exists in only a single ethnic community and we had to shift our attention to sharing knowledge process. Through research of cultural theory in England (especially the cultural theory of Birmingham School), we identified index of in literacy education containing different group matter. The discussion thus far insists to contain ‘Acceptance Model’ and ‘Sharing Model’ in cultural literacy education and suggests method to dealing both model in Korean language studies.
