초록
This study is about 'Oedipus problems' in the classic novel, <Janghwa-Hongryeon Jeon> and the movie, <Janghwa, Hongryeon>(2003). Universal issues like 'Oedipus problems' can mediates between the tradition and the present culture. Although, the two texts deal with the same topic, two texts bring different response to the topic. In the point of view of Oedipus Problems, <Janghwa-Hongryeon Jeon> has meanings as follows: the father and daughters who are very close each other in emotional life regain normal father-daughter relationship by the ordeal which was brought out by the stepmother. The novel is based on fairy tales, and has the optimistic attitude to 'Oedipus Problems'. As to say, that Oedipus problems will be cleared easily in someday, and every children can find their happiness like the hero or the heroine in the narrative. The other way, the movie doesn't give any belief or hope of solving problems. Preferably, it reveals the truth that the stepmother is nothing but an illusion which was made by the own sin-consciousness. The movie tells us that when 'Oedipus problems' are not overcome successfully, the family will collapse and the child will not grow any
