초록
This paper aims to provide a theoretical discussion of the relationship between language and subjectivity. The discussion takes its point of departure from the arguments of Benveniste’s Problems in general linguistics(1966, 1974), in which he claims that ‘Ego’ is he who says ‘ego’ and that it is in and through language that man constitutes himself as a subject, because language alone establishes the concept of ‘ego’ in reality, in its reality. The central focus of this article is to examine his theoretic framework of linguistic subjectivity and the relationship between language and the speaking subject, and in so doing, to provide a deeper appreciation of the notion of linguistic subjectivity.
