초록
This study investigates parents' digital competency and their perceptions of digital education in the context of digital transformation. Parents' digital competency is defined as the ability to appropriately select and use digital tools to support their children's learning. A survey was conducted with 2,459 parents in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, using validated items based on prior research. The findings revealed that parents' digital competency was moderate or lower, and their participation in digital education programs and familiarity with AI-based digital textbooks were limited. Parents expressed significant concerns regarding the potential negative effects of digital learning on children’s physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development. Differences in digital competency and perceptions were identified based on school levels and regional characteristics. This study highlights the necessity of expanding digital competency education programs for parents, addressing digital gaps between regions, and enhancing parental trust in digital educational innovations such as AI digital textbooks.
