초록
The objective of this thesis is to examine the reality of school bullying in Korea and Japan with the focus being on cyber school bullying. After looking at noticeable differences between Korea and Japan in terms of cyber bullying types, it was found that cyber bullying was mostly done through online comments and a messaging application called KakaoTalk in Korea while cyber bullying through unofficial school bulletin boards or via email was prevalent in Japan. In addition, cyber denigration and outing and trickery were frequently causing social problems in Korea, triggering many controversies on online privacy protection and the freedom of expression on the web. On the other hand, cyber exclusion or ostracism was a sensitive subject in Japan, which indicates that traditional school bullying in the form of exclusion or ostracism was still severe in Japan.
