초록
Owing to the development of science and technology, we are able to make relationships even in cyberspace. In result, relational problems can take place even in cyberspace as they do in real space. One of the relational problems that could occur in cyberspace is violence against others, especially, among teenagers. In 2006, 1382 teenagers were surveyed and
 more than 30% of them showed that they had committed cyberviolence for amusement, which can be interpreted as lack of empathy toward their victims from a viewpoint of self-psychology.
 Why were they short of empathic ability? According to Kohut’s theory of the self, an unhealthy self is short of empathic ability and a person develops an unhealthy self due to human environments that are not empathic to him/her. Many Korean teenagers experience verbal and even physical violence at home and schools, non-empathic treatments, to be sure. In addition, a huge majority of Korean parents(school teachers) are more concerned about school grades of their children(their students) rather than the inner being of children(students) themselves, which will make an nonempathic environment for them.
