초록
The 21st century is an era of globalization and information. The world is now a global village, a living space of a day in which everyone should be cultivated as citizens of the free world. This study is aimed for finding the direction for the citizenship education which is necessary for them to live in this global world. Therefore, I tried to analyze the current circumstances of the education for the citizens through the reality of the Korean education and also to consider the direction of the education for the people. After all, the education for the cultivation of the citizenship education should be focused on the way that can help the people to be poised for the decent and sound attitude, and to improve their various abilities. The modern society demands the teachers to pay more attention to the education discussed above, and to try their best to achieve the goal for the better future. Especially, 21st century's citizenship education should be widely publicized to open another chapter for the cosmopolitan education all over the world which will lead our global society.
