초록
Objectives: In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, data literacy—defined as data-driven critical thinking and problem-solving—has become a key competency for healthcare providers. This study evaluates the learning outcomes of the Dental Healthcare and Data Literacy course at G University, focusing on its effects on evidence-based decision-making and problem-solving skills among dental hygiene students to inform curriculum improvement.
Methods: This study analyzed the learning outcomes of a 15-week course implemented in the first semester of 2025 for 26 third-year dental hygiene students at G University. Evidence-based decision-making and problem-solving competencies were assessed using identical pre- and post-tests. Course satisfaction was examined through institutional course evaluations and students’ reflective journals. Quantitative data were analyzed using paired t-tests and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests, while qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis to explore experiential changes among learners.
Results: Students showed statistically significant improvements in all items related to evidence-based decision-making and problem-solving competencies
