A Study on Korean Diaspora Play Performed in Hawaii at 1930's. Dongnam Journal of Korean Language & Literature 31. 「Lotus Bud」 is a play that was performed in Hawaii at 1934. It was young second generation of Korean immigrants in Hawaii who performed this play. And the type of audience was first and second generation of korean immigrants in that area. They arranged 「Honggildongjeon」 for a play that is a Korean traditional romance(story). And adapted to english, presented on the stage. Neighboring Korean people eased their homesickness and sorrow by taking part in this play directly or indirectly. It is because of mental requirement to adapt, arrange 「Honggildongjeon」 to 「Lotus Bud」. They sympathized with 「Honggildongjeon」 and expressed their own problems and desire in 「Lotus Bud」. By presenting 「Lotus Bud」 on the stage, they can make public opinion about their situation. From the phase of adaptation, and the significance of produce, 「Lotus Bud」 show us internal and literary (artistic) scenery of korean immigrants in 1930s, who lived arduously.
