초록
This thesis studied on a Intellectual's 'Reading' and ‘Writing’ in the age of modern enlightenment. Namely, It studied on <the readers' column; 諷林> and novels of discussion form in the Newspaper <Daehanminbo(大韓民報)> such as Byungingansinhuyrok (『病人懇親會錄』), Jeolyoungsinhua (『絶纓神話』) and Geumsujaepan (『禽獸裁判』). The goal of this paper is to inspect a process that readers who had studied Confucianism written by Hanmun(漢文) had changed to read novels written by Hangul(Korean letter). It is also to find the relationship between the readers in early modern era and the modern media. There were various culumns in the newspaper, <Daehaminbo(大韓民報)>.
 The readers' column, Punglim(諷林) was the unusual space among other readers' columns in the age of modern enlightenment. A intellectual reader who had studied Hanhak(漢學) for a long time could put an record in Punglim(諷林). It was the sphere for intellectual readers, not the lower readers such as female readers. At the first place, Punglim(諷林) had demanded that the writing should have a satire and a metaphor like an allegory and narrative. It has related with novels written by Hangul. Specially, Punglim(諷林) is very similar to novel
