Jeon, Su-Jeong. 2004. Needs Analysis of Korean Learners for Reading Education for Academic Purpose. Teaching Koreans as a Foreign Language, 29, 203~230. This study has an objective of showing what the needs ore of students who are planning to study in an academic course in Korea in order to complete their successful academic goal, and they need special Korean courses for academic study. Therefore, there is a need to design an educational plan for Korean students as an academic purpose needs analysis. For this study, I chose as the subject of the study, 126 foreign students enrolled in Korean universities. To analyse their needs in relation to reading, a survey was used. Respondents answered that they used reading more than other language skills. Also, they experienced more difficulties in reading than in other skills. The most difficult reading activity was 'reading comprehension.' followed by 'reading strategy' and 'lexical comprehension'. (Konkuk University)
