초록

Miura Ayako is a well-known Christian female writer in Japanese
literacy circles. Simultaneously, she was well known to the Korean
readers whose ages were over fifties. Her Freezing Point is the most
popular novel in Korea, containing Christian thoughts of original sin.
Even though the novel deals with abnormal family relationships, it
has been popular in Korea and Japan. This paper studies how Freezing
Point was accepted in Korean society. In Japan this novel gained
popularity through mass media. In Korea this novel was accepted
in three dimensions; Christian original sin, local characteristics -
Hotkaido as the background of the novel and a family novel that
portraits humanism. The recovery of diplomatic relations between
Korea and Japan also has helped to increase the popularity of Freezing
 Point in Korea.
