초록
This paper aims to review how readers comprehend a context of expository text with visual codes, investigate the relations between written text and visual code, and propose to develop readers's literacies, focusing on the text interface's functions in comprehending and writing a written text. Recently, hypertexts as a expository text for practical purposes, are widely communicated and their interfaces are commonly composed of some image, sounds, letters, etc. So, the interfaces of written texts on printed materials are changed now, for example there are some photos and graphs on the printed texts. Clearly, printed texts are different from the hypertexts on line, but comprehending the context of written text is same. There fore the effect of visual code on the comprehension process is considerate, also it is involved on the context formation ways. Then, we should know how we can be informed by the clues of visual codes in comprehending a text. That is very important and urgent task for developing modern readers's literacy. This paper propose that we should teach the visual code functions in the written text, and interpreting ways in the letter－visual code context.
